General Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Connect2cy is a web-based platform hosted and controlled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus. Users of this platform are deemed to have accepted the Terms and Conditions. You must therefore read the Terms and Conditions before you can proceed to register your details.
Privacy Statement
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs respects the rights of the users of the platform connect2cy. Where a user voluntarily provides information, the data will be used only for the purposes for which it is provided, and not passed to any third party, except where information is necessary for use in the case of emergency assistance to Cypriot citizens overseas.
For general web browsing no personal information is revealed to us, although certain statistical information may be made available to us via our Internet service provider to create summary statistics, which allow us to assess the number of visitors to our site and to identify what pages are accessed most frequently. We use these statistics to help us make the platform more user-friendly.
We reserve the right to amend this statement at any future date. Any changes will be posted on this page.
Data Protection
Your personal details will be treated with the highest standard of security and confidentiality, strictly in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (GDPR).
Any information submitted through the citizens on-line registration facility will be used for the purpose of contacting you in exceptional circumstances or emergency situations while travelling abroad. Our priority is for the safety and welfare of our citizens and in the event of a crisis it may be necessary to pass your information to a third party. Any other processing or disclosure of the relevant information would not be permitted other than in the circumstances referred to above.
Details in relation to your next of kin are processed on the assumption that permission has been obtained from the individual(s) in advance of registration.
Data shall not be kept for longer than is necessary for the purpose for which it has been given.
By proceeding to use the platform you consent to the processing of the personal data you provide, in accordance with our privacy policy.
Disclaimer
The information provided by users of the platform will be held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the purpose of facilitating contact, where necessary, in an emergency situation.
The information submitted upon registration may be passed to and held by the Diplomatic Mission of Cyprus accredited to your destination country. The only purpose for which this information will be held or used will be to contact you, if necessary and/or requested to do so by your immediate family, in the event of an emergency or in a crisis situation.
In order to assist you in the best possible way, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may also pass your details to third parties with whom we may cooperate during a crisis. In accepting these Terms & Conditions you agree in particular to the following:
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs may pass on your contact details to third parties in connection with any emergency that may arise in the country during the course of your visit where this is necessary to protect my safety and well-being;
- The Ministry may contact your next of kin if deemed appropriate and necessary in an emergency situation.
- Users of the platform retain responsibility for their travel arrangements and personal safety. Neither the Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor its officials shall be held responsible for any injury, loss or damage suffered by a person who has registered through this facility, whether or not he or she has been contacted by the Ministry in response to an emergency situation;
